And that is how babies are made
Took 3 of my kids to Wal Mart today. We are in the shampoo aisle and Corrin says to me "Mom, Dylan says babies come from Sex" Then she says "What is sex?" I asked if she knew what it was and she said no. I told her I would talk to her later. She is only 9 do I really have to go there w/my sweet and innocent girl? Or do I let it go and wait for Dylan to inform her more about it? AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! I have told the kids that God blessed me with them and that you need a Mommy and a Daddy. I didn't lie but I didn't share the details either. I didn't have any clue about any of it till I was alot older. It will prove to be an interesting weekend...
Shampoo...
Today was a productive day. Yahoo! I haven't had alot of them lately been running my tail off too much for that. I helped out in Connor's class but after that I got my floor vacuumed and then shampooed my carpet. Now we used to have horrible ugly dark brown sculptured carpet. I guess when it is the color of dirt you don't see the dirt but this carpet we have now is oatmeal colored. I know we are nuts w/kids but our walls are knotty pine and it is in the basement so it needs to be lightened up. We had a flood this summer and replaced our carpet in the entire basement. The entire month of June was interesting but it sure was worth it. Now you would think I would remember to not run the washing machine when I am leaving the house or going to bed but no I still do. It was caused when it was being repaired and the hose wasn't reattached. No harm no foul. We got the water extractor guy over quickly and so no damage for the most part to the walls either. Now we just need to fix our showers. Oh how I would love to have a shower. Honestly it has been 4 yrs in this house and I am not stretching the truth on that. It was right around when I was ready to have Kolette that I took my last shower. Donnie is not a handyman by choice but he is capable. We just need to motivate him. Had the plumber fix my sink today since my new faucet decided to spray me whenever I turned it on. Hallelujah for working water now:o) HOping this will be a peaceful weekend...

My quiet day arrived
I have been running around so much lately that today I decided I just wouldn't! So other than taking Kolette to Joyschool it was rather quiet. Now I got my kitchen cleaned(no mention it got destroyed by a boy on the loose w/a cinnamon sugar shaker and Kolette and powdered sugar) but at least the counters were visable for a short while. I was trying to conserve space and dumped a bottle of bath and body lotion from one bottle to another. Which resulted in my dining room floors getting cleaned. How? Well Ian decided to fill the empty bottle w/water and squirted it at his sister. I told him he had to clean it. So then they play run around the dining room table and BANG down we go b/c it is not all that dry. Granted I said don't run but I speak in a language that isn't understood by commen children. So first Kolette fell and thinking that would be enough to make Ian not run BANG down he goes. Some lessons are best learned by your own mistakes. But honestly it was nice b/c I got to stay home and not spend the entire day at the school or running s/where else. There is no place like home...

My chubby monkey
Ran across this picture of Ian. He was 7 months old. Yes he weighs about as much as Kolette does now at 3. After having such a chubby healthy monkey Kolette sure seems like a feather. Ian's 5th b-day is coming up and he is so not chubby anymore but I sure miss those chubby cheeks and all the rolls. He was also such a happy friendly baby and now he is so shy it is strange to think about. But all in all I love him for who he is a wonderful sweet boy. Enough gushing but look at all the rolls the baby boobs they will be great blackmail if he decides to be a turkey when he is a teenager;o)cookie dough and body parts...
Our school does a big fund raiser in Feb. It is selling frozen cookie dough. It sells really well and hopefully as well this year. We get 45% of the profits so that is great. In the past I have helped some w/counting the money but NEVER on the last day to turn in. Holy cow!!! It was insane. I went in at 10 and came home at 5:30 and we aren't done yet. Seriously parents were coming in all day w/orders. Not to mention the kids didn't fill in what prizes they wanted so we had to track them down and make them choose. By the end of the day I wanted to just choose for them. I wanted to go to the gym but walking as fast as possible in the halls I figure there is my exercise for the day. Tomorrow I go back in the morn. I also help out in the kids classes in the afternoon so I am wondering if I need to change my mailing address to the school for this week?
That set aside and after reading Tiff's blog today I am reminded of why I hit the gym. Kids will say the darndest things. Kolette is obsessed w/being big and one of the things that is cool to her is having a "big bum". If you say it is anything but big she will literally cry. I have convinced her that it is a "N-O-T big bum". So yesterday in the restroom at Walmart she says in her loud voice where it will echo so nicely "Mommy you have a REALLY big bum!" To her I just said "yes I do" She means I think it is big enough to not fall in but to me OUCH! I went to the gym w/Donnie the other night and it was just us since we have a key(they are only open from 5-9) so I am sure everyone who goes there has one. No we aren't that special. Seeing my bum full length in the mirror was not pretty. Jeans can sure hide alot of flaws but it was sure out there. Yikes. I need to stop looking like I have 4 kids when they aren't around. They need to be the only proof.
I am clearly tired and rambling. Have a great day!

Grow up!
Ok... I am curious what I am to do when you run into a idiot? We went to see my "girls" at their last two basketball games Fri night and Sat afternoon. My "girls" are twins Amanda and Breona(who Kolette is named after in her middle name). They have played soccer for Donnie for forever and babysat my kids and if their mom didn't love them so much I would keep them in a heartbeat. They are wonderful but enough of the gushing.
Ian and Kolette wanted to sit w/their mom during the game yesterday. Kolette walked up to tell me s/thing and then wanted to go back down. I helped her down the bleachers till we were at the one she could walk down to get to Andrea. This guy who is a teacher here looks at my little 3 yr old and makes a mean face and growls loudly at her. Are you kidding?!?!? She backs up and starts to cry. Andrea looks at him and says "Don't be such a meanie scaring a little girl" I take her to a different row and tell her to walk past a mom who I said "wouldn't scare her". This guy has 2 kids and they are 2 & 4. Don't you think he would know better? What a idiot!!!! I am trying to be nice about it to Kolette but who scares a kid they don't know? I am not sure if I should have done anything different since Andrea said s/thing to him twice about being a jerk. Grrrrr...... I really wanted to squeeze his eyeballs out for making my baby cry but I resisited. Mama bear on the loose. She is blonde and mad carrying a small girl.
Not to mention Kolette had been knocked over by a boy and bloodied her lip before this all happened. I don't know if I am overreacting or not but at least it is off my chest and basketball is over so I won't see him.

Wasn't this my easy day?
Today was susposed to be my laid back day. Other than I help in Connor's class in the morn I was susposed to have a laid back day. Both Corrin & Connor were invited to a friends house they are actually brother and sister how perfect for me! My friend brought her daughter over b/c she had s/where to go which was great for Kolette and Ian b/c they love to play w/her.
Now the complicated part. A friend calls me 10 mins before school is getting out b/c her son wrecked their pickup. Thankfully he is ok but they are at the hospital getting him checked out and he broke his nose and a few bumps and bruises. But I had to pick up his sister and then grab Corrin so her friend wouldn't be here bored to death w/me... After she was picked up I ran Corrin to the original playdates which Kolette had finaggled a invite to. It all worked out b/c I even got to visit. Grown up visiting is fun! I brought the youngest back w/me and am still waiting for the older ones. Life is all about flex I am learning b/c rigidity is just no fun.
On a blah note I signed up for a gym in town to tone up my flab and get rid of the dimples(I am dreaming now) 2 days ago. Do you think I have gone yet???? NOPE!!! I have got to figure out a good time. I am not a morn person but I am going to have to go since I paid for it. I would post a before picture but am afraid I won't have a different pic for the after.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Knowledge for the day
Things I have learned today
1. Ian will keep his smarts to himself about what he is learning in Preschool just to drive me nuts. I asked what letter he worked on and he just smiled and said he didn't know. It was "I" like he will ever use that letter everyday of his life...
2. Ian will not work in his seat at preschool until the teacher asks why he is not in his seat working. He says it is because he said her little boy was "Stinky!" Once he was away from the smell he worked just fine.
3. Kolette is under the impression the world revolves around her and that her mommy is stupid. Apparantly it is better to be late to story time b/c we are walking than on time and in the car. It is "More Fun" to walk she says.
4. Kolette is going to marry a dad named "Robert Donnie" when she grows up. I asked her why she was getting so big and she said "Because I want to grow up and get married and have some children" not kidding word for word her words... Not to mention she will get boobs when she grows up and that is apparantly a bonus for her.
5. Helping out in 3rd grade is never boring. Some children will honestly use up the 25 mins intended for 2 kids just staring at 2 + 1 and looking like they are not home
6. Kolette doesn't want to watch star wars anymore b/c Yoda dies. We had crying last night b/c Yoda died and the kids talked about it and she just cried. I am soooooooo not a Star Wars fan but unfortunatly it has its pull on my kids
7. I am losing my coolness factor b/c I don't know that much about Legos, Star Wars, Video Games, Fart jokes basically anything boy
8. At the end of the night they still want their mommy and love me. What could be better than that?

I am too tired!
One of these days I will learn to slow down. Started out the week w/Ian getting Bronchitis. My boy that is never sick and got the virus we all had last ends up on antibiotics. I bribed him and he even got his 4 shots for school under much diress. It took 3 of us to take his pants off but no crying when he got the shots at all. What a tough guy. I did however have to follow thru on the bribe which is a book full of stickers CARS stickers. They are everywhere but he is immunized.
I have been at the school 2 days and going back tomorrow. Ran the kids for their school fundraiser "cookie dough" they are doing very well even though I am dragging now. Been to Wal Mart 2 times in one week and that is how much I ususally go in a month. I spent 4 1/2 hours making cookies and glazing them w/yummy cinnamon frosting and pipping frosting on the edges to take to Corrins class tomorrow. Then I still have to make frosting for Connor's class so they can decorate their cookies tomorrow. Kolette and Ian have both had parties this week and the other 2 have them tomorrow. I am helping in both. I am however immensly happy that I am able to help in the classes and that the teachers like to have help. It is a great blessing to see who is teaching your kids and also what kind of kids there are.
Enough rambling from me I have frosting to make and hopefully a bath and bed. I need some sleep...

ABC's
Just a short note. Ian who acted like he didn't know any of his letters, the ABC song, how to count ect... He is singing the song all the time and counts to 10 really fast. He doesn't always say the name of the letter but he knows the sound they all make. I hope that helps him at least when he starts to read he will have a head start. So now my worries about starting him in school this next year are being put to rest. Also we met a really nice boy his age the other day. All he picks for friends are girls. I don't mind but worry they will ditch him when they go to school in favor of other girls. Yes, I worry way too much but he is still my baby.
Poison control, goat heads and sickness...
I have been so busy lately I have hardly checked the computer. Fri was my day from you know where. While trying to quickly get s/thing done downstairs I hear giggling. I go upstairs to check and Kolette has doused her head in window cleaner. I only had 5 minutes before I had to leave to get my kids from school. So while trying to wash it out she says Ian sprayed some in her mouth. AHHHH!!!! So while rinsing her hair I have poison control on the phone. She was fine just had to wipe her mouth out and all her skin and give her a drink. Seriously I never called that number w/Corrin and only once w/Connor but Ian and Kolette a few times.
Connor had his best buddy come home w/him and Corrin also had a friend. So they are playing chase and Connor comes in screaming. He ran where he has been warned multiple times not to go. Guess what? While wearing his holey play pants since he got mud on his school pants he fell in the neighbors patch of goat heads. Pulling those out was alot of fun. NOT! I still don't know if I got them out since they can break off.
We have all taken turns getting sick for the past 3 to 4 weeks. Mainly a mild cold and not much fever. But my boy who never gets sick has had a fever for 2 days w/a horrible cough. Ian. On Wed night he woke up and was croupy and couldn't breathe. He was panicked but thankfully to Kolette and Corrin I have a nebulizer. Not to mention it is cold outside and that helps. A shower would be nice too but that has to be fixed. I am not even going to get started on that.
Crazy weekend but we are still here so I will just enjoy the silence as my boy is sleeping w/o a cough(thank heavens for horrible tasting cough medicine) It may taste like crap but he is sleeping calmly and that is a blessing for him.
Have a wonderful Monday!

Karen Kingsbury!!!
Tues night we had out secret heart sisters dinner. We reveal who we had for the last year but first you get to guess. Last year I had a gal named Lorine and her mom is Wanda Brunstetter and she is a Amish Christian writer. I have read alot of her books and I really like her. Well this year Lorine had me and I got 3 signed books of her moms and a signed Amish cookbook that looks amazing. Now not to downplay that I got a SIGNED copy of a KAREN KINGSBURY book. She is my absolute favorite author and it says my name in it!!!! "Amy Love, Karen Kingsbury" I am so excited and Donnie thinks I am nuts. But honestly it just touches my heart that she got this signature for me. She actually knows her b/c of her mom which I think is so cool. I have heard Karen Kingsbury on the radio and she seems like the kind of down to earth gal that you could just talk to. Lorine said she is trying to get her publicist to let her come down here to sign books. Oh I would so be at the front of that line!!!! No modern celebrity from Hollywood would make me be this excited Karen rocks!!!
Now I am wondering if I should put this signed copy in a shawdow box or read it again since I really enjoyed the book. I know I am a bit certifiable but this is so exciting for me. Wahoo!!

The toothfairy
I will post the picture later so I apologize in advance
Corrin and Connor have both had very wiggly teeth. Difference is Corrin really wants hers out and Connor could care less and would rather keep it in his mouth. I told them I would talk to the tooth fairy and convince her to give the one who's tooth fell out earliest a dollar and fifty cents instead of the normal dollar.
Well I knew Corrin had the determination but it is her canine and it wasn't as wiggly as Connors. So as he was brushing teeth out it fell. Now he says he doesn't want to put his tooth under his pillow he wants to keep it. Corrin tries to convince him he will get money. He says "It's not all about the money" Then he tells me he doesn't think there is a tooth fairy and he thinks it is me. I told him if you don't believe and put it under your pillow you won't get any money. So he sticks it in a bag and puts it on his dresser.
Today I convinced him that if we wrote a letter to the tooth fairy maybe she would give into his demands. Here is what it says:
Dear Tooth fairy,
I want to know if you will let my mom keep my tooth? I would also like my tooth necklace you took back please.
Thanks,
Connor
That boy is so logical the magic is wearing off a bit too fast in my mind. Oh, as soon as the tooth fell out I felt his top teeth and one is loose. He clamps his lips shut when I ask about it. He sure thinks those baby teeth are worth keeping. I really want the pictures I am a bit of a teeth picture taking nazi. Smile!!!

The man w/the pony
Ok, I am not new on the block but my not so quiet daughter had me a bit confused today. I was desperatly in need of groceries and decided to head out early and get groceries at Costco. Things are going quite well. Kolette only has one tone and it is loud. Her first comment that was slightly loud was when we walked past the mens underwear. She says so sweetly "Mommy can I please get my daddy some underwear?" No we are just fine. That was rather sweet to think of her Daddy and I will leave it at that.
Considering it was a Monday and not many people are at Costco you wouldn't think you would have to wait in their freakishly long lines. But I guess that is just part of the experience and so there were only 3 lines open and I am in line behind 3 other people. Kolette says there is a man w/a pony. She wants Ian to see it but the man has passed. I tell her I didn't see the man w/the horse. I am secretly wondering if he had a toy horse or just a shirt or hat w/a horse. Now I have been a mother of girls for over 9 years and when the word pony comes out of a girls mouth it means HAIR PONY! So I haven't figured this out yet. I get thru line get the kids s/thing to eat and we sit down. Then they seriously have to pee. Of course that means take all the groceries out to the car & come back in. So on our way back from the bathroom Kolette says rather loudly "Look it's the man w/the pony!" I don't see and so she points and says it again just as loud. Yeah, totally a lady w/a hat and a braided ponytail down her back. She was wearing a sweatshirt and jeans and had young kids in her cart. I tell Kolette it is a lady but she disagrees. I tell her again it is really a lady. She so didn't agree. I guess in her standards you must fluff it up to get her to believe it. Maybe the fact that I don't look good in a baseball hat and so I never wear them has warped her. That girl is full of ideas...
