It is funny to hear how your kids act when they are out of your sight. I know that my Ian is a stubborn little boy. He is a very sweet boy too but man is he stubborn. He is also very independent. So last week he decided that he didn't want to put his workbox away in class and then didn't want to get in line. So he lost 2 straws which means that he gets no treat at the end of the day. So I talked to him and told him that he needed to apologize to his teacher for not listening b/c this approach worked on Connor. He got really upset so I told him to tell his teacher that he would listen better from now on. So the next day I took him in and told his teacher he had s/thing to tell her. Of course he wouldn't so his teacher said she would talk to him later.
I run into her today while helping in Connor's class and she filled in what happened that day he was susposed to talk to her. She said she tried to ask him later if he had anything he wanted to say to her. He said no. So right before the end of the day she asked him if he had anything to say to her b/c she knew his mommy wanted him to. He answered "My mom wants me to but I don't"
And that is that. His attitude is better and he is proud of that but wow he knows his mind I guess.

Bravery tooth style
Just wanted to show off Ian's lovely toothy smile. Since he has always been so shy I have put off taking him into the dentist for his own appt b/c I wanted it to be positive. I made the appt w/o thinking about it being spring break and marked it on the calendar. I lined up a friend to watch the kids while I took him and on my way to her house I realized that I hadn't had my customary day before appt call. So I called and they didn't even have an appt down for him. I told her that we did b/c I wrote it on the calendar and the calendar never lies of course I didn't tell her that. She called me back 2 more times until I told her I wasn't trying to be a pain but that I had lined up the kids w/someone to watch them and that my son was shy and he actually wanted to go in even knowing the kids were at his friends house. So I decided that I would just camp out in their office. It worked esp when they saw Ian's face it is alot harder to turn away a cute boy than his pushy mommy. So anyway we had to wait about a half hour and then we were in. The hygenist was great and talked him thru it all and he watched in fascination. He did everything she told him it was great. I am so glad he got to go in. He has to go back next week to see the dentist since his dentist just had a new baby or rather his wife did. Priorities right where they belong. I am so thrilled it went so great. Maybe school won't be such a rough go like I thought. But did Ian really have to grow up overnight like he has? My baby boy is growing up.

more love stuff...
A week ago we had the "I love you do you love me?" issue w/Connor. Well I told Ian that we don't kiss girls other than our mom or sisters. He looks at me and says "I know, but I would let Marlie kiss me!" I looked at him in shock and said "No" and he said w/a sheepish grin "It was just a joke".
Ok, I am not that stupid but he sure thinks so. What am I going to do that boy only seems to pick girls for friends and the bossier they are the better. Maybe it is all a ploy for him to get kisses. We will see what Kindergarten brings.

ABC's
Just a short note. Ian who acted like he didn't know any of his letters, the ABC song, how to count ect... He is singing the song all the time and counts to 10 really fast. He doesn't always say the name of the letter but he knows the sound they all make. I hope that helps him at least when he starts to read he will have a head start. So now my worries about starting him in school this next year are being put to rest. Also we met a really nice boy his age the other day. All he picks for friends are girls. I don't mind but worry they will ditch him when they go to school in favor of other girls. Yes, I worry way too much but he is still my baby.

My boy
Yesterday was the kids last soccer prac. We got the pictures back and the team picture was too funny. Now my Ian has spunk and personality but he usually keeps it to himself when other people are around. This is the kid who hides behind my leg. So I look at the picture and Ian is in the back row winking huge and holding his collar of his shirt in a cutsie way. All the other moms who we didn't know till soccer were cracking up. I just hope when school starts next year he decides to show his personality to others so they will see what fun he is.
Another thing about Ian that is too cute in my mind is... you know the saying "step on the crack and break your mothers back"? Well our school sidewalk has huge squares of concrete. Ian steps in the middle where it forms a X and says "cross" at each one. I am glad he thinks of Christ in everyday life. It says in the Bible to talk about God in everyday situations and it is totally like a child to remind us of that.

Preschool
Ok for all of you who know me I am a bit of a control freak. Also I don't do Preschool. I hate the idea of having my kids s/where else and don't want to give up my time w/them until they start Kindergarten. This has worked w/Corrin & Connor. I did preschool w/a friend for Corrin we just designed it together and it worked great. Connor we thought we were going to hold him out a year. However he was SOOOO ready and so I just taught him his letters and numbers on my own. Socially Connor was really ready.
So my concern is my Ian. For as outgoing as he was as a baby he has done a complete turnabout and is completely shy. He chooses very few people to like instantly and most of them are men. He only likes a couple of my friends. So if he is talked to he will hide behind my legs and cry if I ever try to leave him even in Sunday school. I hate to see him struggle so much since he will have to leave me when he goes to school next year. Sooooooo I am going to give in and give Preschool a try. The teacher said to give it a try next week. So maybe he will act like he wants to learn s/thing if there are other kids his age wanting to learn. I know he is smart I have seen it but he likes to just shut down instead of trying period. I am worried about him and know that alot of this is my fault for probably helping his shyness along like answering questions that are directed at him when he doesn't want to answer. Yes, I know I am not in control of everything, even though I think I should be. I want the teacher that I want for him and I could name off multiple reasons for why. But I won't it would take up too much room.
So the next problem will be how to keep Kolette from killing me for not letting her go to Preschool too. Whoever said raising kids was easy never had any kids.

Thankful for songs
I am so thankful to hear Ian singing at the top of the stairs his self written song. The words are "I love my mom" and repeat it over and over and over. He says he has 3 songs "I love my mom", " I love my dad" and "I love my friends". I hear the "I love my mom" song the most and I have to say it is the most beautiful song I have ever heard. He has such a soft voice while singing it but I love it. Kolette has tried to sing her own version and it has the same exact words and they are very beautiful as well. As long as they don't both sing at the same time we are ok or else they fight over who has the right to sing at that precise moment.
Ian is telling me right now "I love you mom" and "You are my best Mommy ever". I tell him he is my "best Ian ever" Melting heart right now.

"What's the "B" word?"
Lately Ian has been asking me how to spell things. Not that he knows all his letters but he wants to know how to spell stuff. So this morn this is the conversation:
Ian: What's the "B" word?
Me: I don't know
Ian: Is it Dumb?
Me: No that starts with D.
Ian: I think it is Butt.
Me: Yep, that is the B word don't say it ok?
Ian: Ok
So later we are eating lunch and this is our next conversation:
Me: Ian why are you growing up so much?
Ian: Coz I want to be a grown up.
Me: What are you going to do when you are a grown up?
Ian: I am going to still be loving you.
Ok, my heart is exploding and melting all at the same time. Gotta keep that kid...

cranky Sunday
This is what I came home to last Sunday after church. Donnie doesn't go w/us to church so the kids and I go to Sunday school and church. Recently our church started a Childrens church during regular service. Ian is old enough to go. However he was beyond cranky and crying easily. I said I would call his dad to come and get him. I think he thought he was going to go home and watch Star Wars since Donnie said he would wait until they got home from church to watch it. But Ian was wrong he had to wait until Connor got home. Instead I found both my guys crashed on the couch. Donnie really is a big fan of having his picture taken when he is asleep. He remembers the flash going off. Oh well... Notice what is in his hand?
