Knowledge for the day

Things I have learned today

1. Ian will keep his smarts to himself about what he is learning in Preschool just to drive me nuts. I asked what letter he worked on and he just smiled and said he didn't know. It was "I" like he will ever use that letter everyday of his life...

2. Ian will not work in his seat at preschool until the teacher asks why he is not in his seat working. He says it is because he said her little boy was "Stinky!" Once he was away from the smell he worked just fine.

3. Kolette is under the impression the world revolves around her and that her mommy is stupid. Apparantly it is better to be late to story time b/c we are walking than on time and in the car. It is "More Fun" to walk she says.

4. Kolette is going to marry a dad named "Robert Donnie" when she grows up. I asked her why she was getting so big and she said "Because I want to grow up and get married and have some children" not kidding word for word her words... Not to mention she will get boobs when she grows up and that is apparantly a bonus for her.

5. Helping out in 3rd grade is never boring. Some children will honestly use up the 25 mins intended for 2 kids just staring at 2 + 1 and looking like they are not home

6. Kolette doesn't want to watch star wars anymore b/c Yoda dies. We had crying last night b/c Yoda died and the kids talked about it and she just cried. I am soooooooo not a Star Wars fan but unfortunatly it has its pull on my kids

7. I am losing my coolness factor b/c I don't know that much about Legos, Star Wars, Video Games, Fart jokes basically anything boy

8. At the end of the night they still want their mommy and love me. What could be better than that?

I am too tired!

One of these days I will learn to slow down. Started out the week w/Ian getting Bronchitis. My boy that is never sick and got the virus we all had last ends up on antibiotics. I bribed him and he even got his 4 shots for school under much diress. It took 3 of us to take his pants off but no crying when he got the shots at all. What a tough guy. I did however have to follow thru on the bribe which is a book full of stickers CARS stickers. They are everywhere but he is immunized.

I have been at the school 2 days and going back tomorrow. Ran the kids for their school fundraiser "cookie dough" they are doing very well even though I am dragging now. Been to Wal Mart 2 times in one week and that is how much I ususally go in a month. I spent 4 1/2 hours making cookies and glazing them w/yummy cinnamon frosting and pipping frosting on the edges to take to Corrins class tomorrow. Then I still have to make frosting for Connor's class so they can decorate their cookies tomorrow. Kolette and Ian have both had parties this week and the other 2 have them tomorrow. I am helping in both. I am however immensly happy that I am able to help in the classes and that the teachers like to have help. It is a great blessing to see who is teaching your kids and also what kind of kids there are.

Enough rambling from me I have frosting to make and hopefully a bath and bed. I need some sleep...

ABC's

Just a short note. Ian who acted like he didn't know any of his letters, the ABC song, how to count ect... He is singing the song all the time and counts to 10 really fast. He doesn't always say the name of the letter but he knows the sound they all make. I hope that helps him at least when he starts to read he will have a head start. So now my worries about starting him in school this next year are being put to rest. Also we met a really nice boy his age the other day. All he picks for friends are girls. I don't mind but worry they will ditch him when they go to school in favor of other girls. Yes, I worry way too much but he is still my baby.

Poison control, goat heads and sickness...

I have been so busy lately I have hardly checked the computer. Fri was my day from you know where. While trying to quickly get s/thing done downstairs I hear giggling. I go upstairs to check and Kolette has doused her head in window cleaner. I only had 5 minutes before I had to leave to get my kids from school. So while trying to wash it out she says Ian sprayed some in her mouth. AHHHH!!!! So while rinsing her hair I have poison control on the phone. She was fine just had to wipe her mouth out and all her skin and give her a drink. Seriously I never called that number w/Corrin and only once w/Connor but Ian and Kolette a few times.

Connor had his best buddy come home w/him and Corrin also had a friend. So they are playing chase and Connor comes in screaming. He ran where he has been warned multiple times not to go. Guess what? While wearing his holey play pants since he got mud on his school pants he fell in the neighbors patch of goat heads. Pulling those out was alot of fun. NOT! I still don't know if I got them out since they can break off.

We have all taken turns getting sick for the past 3 to 4 weeks. Mainly a mild cold and not much fever. But my boy who never gets sick has had a fever for 2 days w/a horrible cough. Ian. On Wed night he woke up and was croupy and couldn't breathe. He was panicked but thankfully to Kolette and Corrin I have a nebulizer. Not to mention it is cold outside and that helps. A shower would be nice too but that has to be fixed. I am not even going to get started on that.

Crazy weekend but we are still here so I will just enjoy the silence as my boy is sleeping w/o a cough(thank heavens for horrible tasting cough medicine) It may taste like crap but he is sleeping calmly and that is a blessing for him.

Have a wonderful Monday!

Karen Kingsbury!!!

Tues night we had out secret heart sisters dinner. We reveal who we had for the last year but first you get to guess. Last year I had a gal named Lorine and her mom is Wanda Brunstetter and she is a Amish Christian writer. I have read alot of her books and I really like her. Well this year Lorine had me and I got 3 signed books of her moms and a signed Amish cookbook that looks amazing. Now not to downplay that I got a SIGNED copy of a KAREN KINGSBURY book. She is my absolute favorite author and it says my name in it!!!! "Amy Love, Karen Kingsbury" I am so excited and Donnie thinks I am nuts. But honestly it just touches my heart that she got this signature for me. She actually knows her b/c of her mom which I think is so cool. I have heard Karen Kingsbury on the radio and she seems like the kind of down to earth gal that you could just talk to. Lorine said she is trying to get her publicist to let her come down here to sign books. Oh I would so be at the front of that line!!!! No modern celebrity from Hollywood would make me be this excited Karen rocks!!!

Now I am wondering if I should put this signed copy in a shawdow box or read it again since I really enjoyed the book. I know I am a bit certifiable but this is so exciting for me. Wahoo!!

The toothfairy

I will post the picture later so I apologize in advance

Corrin and Connor have both had very wiggly teeth. Difference is Corrin really wants hers out and Connor could care less and would rather keep it in his mouth. I told them I would talk to the tooth fairy and convince her to give the one who's tooth fell out earliest a dollar and fifty cents instead of the normal dollar.

Well I knew Corrin had the determination but it is her canine and it wasn't as wiggly as Connors. So as he was brushing teeth out it fell. Now he says he doesn't want to put his tooth under his pillow he wants to keep it. Corrin tries to convince him he will get money. He says "It's not all about the money" Then he tells me he doesn't think there is a tooth fairy and he thinks it is me. I told him if you don't believe and put it under your pillow you won't get any money. So he sticks it in a bag and puts it on his dresser.

Today I convinced him that if we wrote a letter to the tooth fairy maybe she would give into his demands. Here is what it says:
Dear Tooth fairy,
I want to know if you will let my mom keep my tooth? I would also like my tooth necklace you took back please.
Thanks,
Connor

That boy is so logical the magic is wearing off a bit too fast in my mind. Oh, as soon as the tooth fell out I felt his top teeth and one is loose. He clamps his lips shut when I ask about it. He sure thinks those baby teeth are worth keeping. I really want the pictures I am a bit of a teeth picture taking nazi. Smile!!!

The man w/the pony

Ok, I am not new on the block but my not so quiet daughter had me a bit confused today. I was desperatly in need of groceries and decided to head out early and get groceries at Costco. Things are going quite well. Kolette only has one tone and it is loud. Her first comment that was slightly loud was when we walked past the mens underwear. She says so sweetly "Mommy can I please get my daddy some underwear?" No we are just fine. That was rather sweet to think of her Daddy and I will leave it at that.

Considering it was a Monday and not many people are at Costco you wouldn't think you would have to wait in their freakishly long lines. But I guess that is just part of the experience and so there were only 3 lines open and I am in line behind 3 other people. Kolette says there is a man w/a pony. She wants Ian to see it but the man has passed. I tell her I didn't see the man w/the horse. I am secretly wondering if he had a toy horse or just a shirt or hat w/a horse. Now I have been a mother of girls for over 9 years and when the word pony comes out of a girls mouth it means HAIR PONY! So I haven't figured this out yet. I get thru line get the kids s/thing to eat and we sit down. Then they seriously have to pee. Of course that means take all the groceries out to the car & come back in. So on our way back from the bathroom Kolette says rather loudly "Look it's the man w/the pony!" I don't see and so she points and says it again just as loud. Yeah, totally a lady w/a hat and a braided ponytail down her back. She was wearing a sweatshirt and jeans and had young kids in her cart. I tell Kolette it is a lady but she disagrees. I tell her again it is really a lady. She so didn't agree. I guess in her standards you must fluff it up to get her to believe it. Maybe the fact that I don't look good in a baseball hat and so I never wear them has warped her. That girl is full of ideas...
