Birthday girls

My birthday girls. Corrin turned 9 and Kolette is 3. Kolette really enjoyed the cupcake and Corrin didn't want to cut her soccer cake.

New bed woes

Ok, after all the excitement over getting a new "big girl bed" the measurements were all wrong. Ok, I guess I could have measured the headboard but I didn't notice the 6" difference. Really why are there full & Queen? With only a diff of 6" they should ditch the full size and just go w/the queen. So after tearing down the crib on Fri, Donnie came home and put the frame together and it didn't match up on the headboard. Darnet, it dosen't fit. Since I got the mattress from a place off of craigslist and it is a warehouse I had to leave a message. So Kolette slept w/Corrin Fri night and she could talk to the wall till who knows what hour and Corrin is tired. Corrin tried to tell her to go to sleep and turned herself around to get away from the chatter. Corrin fell asleep and when I checked on them Kolette was still awake. So Sat night they ALL slept in Connor's room. They must have been tired b/c they all fell asleep. Tonite she is back w/Corrin. Lord willing she will shut her eyes and her mouth. The mattress guy called me and left a message while I was at church and said he is out until Wed can we wait? Huh??? The plastic tore a tiny bit on the mattress so he better take it back. Grrr... Hopefully soon she will be back in her room and hopefully stay in there w/the added freedom. Good night...

first lost tooth

Connor lost his first tooth at school today. Once he heard that the tooth fairy pays $5 for the first tooth he got serious about wiggling it. I am so thankful he didn't lose it. They gave him a tooth necklace to put it in.

Bargain hunting...

Ok, I know I have to get used to the fact that Kolette isn't a baby anymore and so I finally decided to start looking for a big girl bed. That means no more crib which makes her VERY happy. However it shocks me to see the prices of beds. She is such a girly girl and so she needs a very girly bed. I was driving past my neighbors yesterday and saw a really cute white cast iron like head and footboard. I wanted to ask her if they were for sale. I drove past a couple hours later and they were gone. Kolette went to bed heartbroken. I happened to go past again on my way to the store last night. I stopped and asked and she sold it to me for $30. I was in heaven. I found a frame this morn for $5. Also found on Craigslist a brand new full size mattress and box. They were discounted and my lovely mother in law donated $100 to the cause and we have the entire set for the little princess. Now the hunt for full sized sheets is on. Tried Costco tonite and they didn't have pink in full and according to Kolette that is the ONLY acceptable color in her eyes. Now I have to tear down the crib. That crib was the first piece of furniture to go up in this house and it is sad to me to take it down. It has been 6 1/2 yrs since we moved in. I am not ready for my babies to grow up but I know it is happening w/o my permission. I will post pics when it is all assembled.

Pantyliner facination

I would like to know what the facination w/panty liners is? This is Ian & Kolette almost 2 yrs ago and the facination hasn't tired for Kolette yet. Ian once made me a tampon chain by popping out the centers. I also had to have the talk w/him that Pantyliners aren't stickers. YOu know it is getting out of hand when you hear the distinct sound of a panty liner being pulled back up from the floor. However Kolette is in a huge hurry to be big she got into them just the other day and had 3 pads stacked on top of each other on the counter and was yelling for me to come and help her. I told her she didn't have boobs yet so she can't have them yet. Seriously why would she want to deal w/all the details of being a lady. However she said for her b-day she wanted boobs and make-up. I told her she wasn't a lady and she couldn't have them yet. She said "Grandma says I a lady". She also said she does have boobs but I had to tell her until she has big boobs she can't have ladies things. Oh boy, the next 10 yrs are going to be interesting. She says she has "tiny boobs and a big bum". Apparantly if you have a big bum that is really good in her mind. If you mistakingly call it a little, tiny or small bum you will get tears from her. I told her to sit her little bum down at Costco and she cried and said "it's a big bum!"

Donnie had his 20 yr class reunion this summer. We got to go inside the Dam and learn all about the history. This pic of Connor was taken after he clung for dear life to his Dad thru the entire tour. He was literally terrified. It didn't help there was 2 very unruly kids making it harder for him by clanging on everything. I felt so bad for him since I was trying to comfort Ian and had to have s/one else hold Kolette. Corrin on the other hand thought it was wonderful. The second we were told we were going back up Connor stopped shaking and was totally fine. We were down at the bottom of the dam. It was kinda freaky for me too but actually less so than the drive up on that skinny road. Donnie took Kolette up in his drop box truck a month later and she was upset b/c he just went up to get garbage and she didn't get to go inside. Crazy kid. It just goes to show that we are all made so very differently.

Family sickness

The sick bug has sure made it's way thru our house. I can't complain if it dosen't land us in the hospital. It started 2 weeks ago. Kolette got it for her b-day and lasted for 3 days took a 1 1/2 days off and spiked a fever again. That girl knows how to get sick. I called and the on call Dr. was Dr. Dunbrasky and she saw her in the office last Sun morn. I was in shock. She said it was either bronchitis or the startings of pneumonia. I got sick 2 days later after having a cold for 5 days and had a fever. I guess God was saying "Slow down". Then Ian woke up Sat night w/a fever and Donnie got sick. Ahhh!!!! Corrin is spending all night coughing. Calgon take me away...
